Energy production has always been one of the major areas of interest for Tampieri. As early as in 1981 electricity started being generated for the company's own consumption, thanks to a steam turbo alternator powered by the combustion of our own grapeseed meal. In 1999 the existing plants were further upgraded and their capacity boosted from 1.5 Mw to 9 Mw.
These investments enabled the Tampieri Group not only to reach energy self-sufficiency, but also to use only energy from renewable sources for its own production. Its 'green' vocation was then proclaimed: the objective was to make every internal production process environmentally sound. Such a responsible approach to the environment was adopted years before the directives of the Kyoto Protocol on the reduction of Co2 emissions entered into force in 2005.
Tampieri green energy was formally established in 2002. Over the years the Tampieri Group has continued to invest in the field of green economy, further increasing the capacity of its power station, which can generate up to 25 Mw. This way the Group has started to sell the surplus energy on the free market, thus turning its energy needs into an ethically sustainable business
Today Tampieri green energy runs one of the largest solid biomass plants in Italy, capable of lighting up a town the size of Faenza two and a half times.
